8-Chloro-3,4-dihydro-2H-1-benzopyran is a synthetic chemical that can be used as a reagent or a starting material in the synthesis of other compounds. 8-Chloro-3,4-dihydro-2H-1-benzopyran is oxidized by sodium dichromate to give the corresponding chlorochromene derivative. This compound is also hydrolysed to give an alcohol and acid. 8CDP has been shown to react with nitric acid to form an analogue of 2,6-dichloronitrobenzene. This analogue can then be used as a precursor in the synthesis of dyes and pharmaceuticals.
