Oxotremorine M is a m1 receptor agonist that is used in pharmacological research. It has been shown to produce concentration-response curves and kinetic data for pharmacological effects on the striatal membranes of rats. These effects were found to be reversible and specific for the m1 receptors. Oxotremorine M has also been shown to produce an analog, which is a modified form of the drug that is more stable and potent than its parent compound. The analogue has been shown to have similar pharmacological effects as the parent compound but with higher potency and selectivity.
