2-Acetoxypropionyl Chloride
CAS:2-Acetoxypropionyl chloride is a chlorinating agent that can be used to produce sulfides, thiosulfates, and sulfones. It is a colorless gas with a pungent odor. 2-Acetoxypropionyl chloride can also be used as an intermediate in the synthesis of aziridines and aziridinium salts. The enantiomer of this agent is called acetoxypropionate chloride. It has been shown to react with triphosgene to form chloroformates and chloroacetates, which are useful intermediates in organic synthesis. The sequence of reactions for the preparation of 2-acetoxypropionyl chloride from sodium sulfide is as follows: 1) Sodium Sulfide + Chlorine Gas -> Sodium Chloride + Sulfur Dioxide 2) Sodium Chloride + Potassium Acetate -> Potassium Chloride + Sodium AcetateFormula:C5H7ClO3Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:150.56 g/mol2-Acetoxypropionyl Chloride
