CAS:4,5',8-Trimethylpsoralen is a fatty acid that can be synthesized from para-aminobenzoic acid. It has been shown to have carcinogenic potential in vitro and in vivo. 4,5',8-Trimethylpsoralen inhibits transcription by binding to DNA polymerase II and III. This inhibition prevents the production of RNA and protein synthesis, leading to cell death. 4,5',8-Trimethylpsoralen also inhibits DNA synthesis by binding to the enzyme DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV.
