The probe is cell permeable and binds to its target of interest through complementary binding. 4-CMT has been shown to bind to dopamine D1 receptors, which are known for their role in neuronal activity. 4-CMT also binds to adenosine A2A receptors, which have been shown to inhibit long term potentiation (LTP).
