LY 78335 is a non-steroidal estrogen that binds to both the dopamine and estradiol receptors in the brain. The binding of LY 78335 to these receptors decreases locomotor activity, inhibits the effects of naloxone, and blocks the binding of dopamine to adrenergic receptors. It has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on tumor growth in animals with cancer. LY 78335 has also been shown to bind with high affinity to 2-adrenergic receptor (2AR) and α2-adrenergic receptor (α2AR), which are found in the central nervous system. This drug may be useful for treating Alzheimer's disease, as it has been shown to increase blood pressure and decrease blood sampling time in rats with this condition.
