CAS:1-Bromo-2-methoxy-4-(trifluoromethyl)benzene is an analog of the antibiotic methicillin. It has a structure that is similar to that of methicillin and a pharmacokinetic profile that has been validated in vitro. This drug inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the cell wall, which prevents the formation of cross-links between peptidoglycan chains. Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) are susceptible to 1-bromo-2-methoxy-4-(trifluoromethyl)benzene, but methicillin susceptible S. aureus (MSSA) are not. 1-Bromo-2-methoxy-4-(trifluoromethyl)benzene also inhibits gram positive pathogens such as Streptococcus pneumoniae and Enterococcus faecium, among others.
