2-Bromo-6-methoxypyridine is an amide with hydrochloric acid. It is used as a synthetic intermediate for the synthesis of various pharmaceuticals, such as benzodiazepines, which are used in the treatment of anxiety disorders. 2-Bromo-6-methoxypyridine has functional groups that allow it to react with other molecules to form covalent bonds. The hydrogen bond between this molecule and amines is the most important of these functional groups. This compound also binds to the CB2 receptor and crosslinks with sodium hydroxide solution, which may be due to its ability to serve as a precursor for the synthesis of aryl chlorides. 2-Bromo-6-methoxypyridine exhibits pharmacokinetic properties that are similar to those of benzodiazepines and hydroxide solutions.
