It has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth and reduce inflammation. Rac-Mono(5-carboxy-2-ethylpentyl) phthalate has also been shown to decrease fertility and increase the body mass index in mice. The effects of rac Mono(5-carboxy-2-ethylpentyl) phthalate on male fertility have been studied as a possible contraceptive agent.
