2-Decyn-1-ol is a fatty acid ester that is a major component of the lipids in the cell membranes of organisms. It has been shown to have uv absorption, trehalose, and citric properties. 2-Decyn-1-ol has also been shown to be effective against organisms such as yeast, bacteria, and algae. In addition to being an amphipathic molecule with low molecular weight, this product is also a surfactant which can emulsify substances in water and oil phases. This product is also an emulsifying agent that helps break down fats and oils in order to produce primary alcohols.
