2-(2-Nitrophenyl)imidazole
CAS:2-(2-Nitrophenyl)imidazole is a cyclic ketone that has been used as a reagent for the synthesis of various organic compounds. It has yielded titanium complexes, and has shown an inhibitory effect on brain homogenate, as well as on rat brain. The synthesis of 2-(2-nitrophenyl)imidazole was first reported in 1892 by Tiemann and Thiourea, who obtained it from the reaction of 2-nitrobenzaldehyde with thiourea in anhydrous ethanol. This compound can be synthesized through two different methods: the first is to react nitroethane with thiourea, followed by hydrolysis; and the second is to react phenylacetylene with sodium nitrite in liquid ammonia at -78°C.Formula:C9H7N3O2Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:189.17 g/mol2-(2-Nitrophenyl)imidazole
