CAS:Methyl 2-(bromomethyl)acrylate is a monomer that is used in the synthesis of polymers. It is synthesized by the reaction of bromine and methanol with acrylic acid. Methyl 2-(bromomethyl)acrylate has been shown to be toxic to leukemia cells, and it has been used as a chemical to treat leukemia. It also has an anti-inflammatory effect on the stomach. Methyl 2-(bromomethyl)acrylate can react with vitamin D3 to form a methyl ester, which can be metabolized into either 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 or 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3, depending on the presence of chloride or cyclohexane ring respectively. This monomer can also copolymerize with styrene or other monomers such as vinyl acetate to produce polymers such as polyvinyl methyl ethers and polystyrene.Formula:C5H7BrO2Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:Clear LiquidMolecular weight:179.01 g/molRef: 3D-FM32085
