Dimethyl thiophene-2,5-dicarboxylate
CAS:Dimethyl thiophene-2,5-dicarboxylateMolecular weight:200.21g/molDimethyl thiophene-2,5-dicarboxylate
CAS:Dimethyl thiophene-2,5-dicarboxylate is a monomer that is used in the production of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastics. It reacts with ethylene to form a cyclohexene ring and two methyl groups. The compound is expressed from the bacterium Acetobacter xylinum and can be prepared by chlorination and butyllithium reduction of dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate. Dimethyl thiophene-2,5-dicarboxylate has been shown to react with aminophenols to form fluorescent products. This reaction occurs when the aminophenol molecule acts as an acid catalyst, which facilitates the elimination of hydrogen chloride and formation of an ester bond between the aminophenol and dimethyl thiophene-2,5-dicarboxylate.
