p-Tolylmagnesium Bromide (19% in Tetrahydrofuran, ca. 1mol/L)
CAS:Formula:C7H7BrMgColor and Shape:LiquidMolecular weight:195.34p-Tolylmagnesium Bromide
CAS:Controlled Productp-Tolylmagnesium Bromide is a Grignard reagent that is used in organic synthesis. It can be used to synthesize new compounds and is an important reagent in the palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction. In this reaction, the Grignard reagent reacts with a halide to form an organometallic intermediate. The nucleophile (typically an alcohol) then attacks the carbon atom of the organometallic intermediate, displacing one of its bromine atoms and forming a new carbon-carbon bond. The magnesium can also be replaced by other metals such as zinc or lithium. p-Tolylmagnesium Bromide is often used as a catalyst for cationic polymerization reactions. It is also used to remove chlorine from chlorides, fluorine from fluoroalkanes, sulfides from sulfoxides, and tosylates from tosylate esters. p-Tolylmagnesium Bromide hasFormula:C7H7BrMgPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:195.34 g/mol4-Methylphenylmagnesium bromide 0.5 M in Tetrahydrofuran
