5-Oxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-1,2,4-triazole-3-carboxylic acid (OTC) is an organic compound that belongs to the carboxylic acids. It is a white solid with a melting point of 111°C and a boiling point of 266°C. OTC can be prepared by reacting hydroxide or sodium hydroxide with nitrous acid in the presence of hydrochloric acid. The major use of OTC is as a precursor for the synthesis of triazoles.
