CAS:Diphenylphosphine oxide is an experimental solubility data. It is used as an antimicrobial agent in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, and as a model system for coordination geometry. Diphenylphosphine oxide has been shown to react with glycol esters and oxides to form phosphonium salts and phosphine oxides, respectively. These reactions have been shown to coordinate the metal ion in a square planar geometry. The reaction has also been shown to be reversible, depending on the concentration of reactants. Diphenylphosphine oxide has been shown to act as an agonist at the histamine H2 receptor.
