CAS:Ethyl 2-amino-4,5-dimethylthiophene-3-carboxylate is a chemical compound with anesthetic properties. It has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the enzyme dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase (DPD). This inhibition leads to an accumulation of toxic levels of the intermediate, 4,5-dihydroorotic acid, and inhibits xanthine oxidase. This effect causes the release of uric acid from the body and results in an increase in blood uric acid levels. Ethyl 2-amino-4,5-dimethylthiophene-3-carboxylate also inhibits ligand binding to its receptors and has shown to be a ligand for some metal ions. The compound is used in x-ray diffraction studies for its ability to scatter x rays and produce patterns that can be analyzed.Formula:C9H13NO2SPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:199.27 g/molEthyl 2-Amino-4,5-dimethylthiophene-3-carboxylate
