It has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. This compound inhibits the growth of fungi by binding to the enzyme acetate esterase in the cell wall. 1,2,4-Triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidin-7-ol also inhibits bacterial growth through hydrazide and ampicillin target compounds.
