CAS:L-Iditol is a sugar alcohol that is found in small quantities in nature and is used as a food additive and pharmaceutical excipient. L-Iditol has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria such as Escherichia coli K-12 at concentrations of 0.1% to 1%. This compound was also shown to have a protective effect on human erythrocytes from oxidative damage.
