It has been shown to be effective against staphylococcus and other gram positive bacteria when combined with radiation or in screening for new antibiotics. Trans-4-(4-chlorophenyl)-1-cyclohexane carboxylic acid is also an antibacterial agent, which inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the ribosomes.
