CAS:Isoquinoline-1,5-diol is an activated compound that is believed to exert its biological activity by binding to the mitochondrial membrane potential. It has been shown to activate the cardiac K+ channels in vivo and in vitro models. Isoquinoline-1,5-diol also increases the glomerular filtration rate and prevents cervical cancer cell growth in vitro. This agent may be used as a therapeutic agent for myocardial infarcts, which are caused by a reduction of cardiac output secondary to coronary artery disease. Isoquinoline-1,5-diol activates adenylate cyclase and increases 3'-5'adenosine monophosphate (AMP) levels. The enzyme dopamine synthetase is inhibited by this drug.
