1,6-Bis(Triethoxysilyl)Hexane

1,6-Bis(triethoxysilyl)hexane is a polymerization product of triethoxysilane. The polymer has been synthesized by hydrosilylation reactions of 1,6-bis(triethoxysilyl)hexane and tetrahydrofuran in the presence of acidic catalysts. This material can be prepared as an optical coating with a high refractive index and excellent transparency. The polymer has been characterized by fluorescence spectroscopy and diffraction studies. It displays mesoporous properties with a pore size distribution ranging from 3 to 6 nm.
