Methyl 3-chlorosalicylate
CAS:Methyl 3-chlorosalicylate is a chemical intermediate that is used to manufacture other chemicals. It is produced by reacting sodium hypochlorite with sulfur, and the reaction time can be controlled by changing the ratio of reactants. The product of these reactions is an oxidation product that has been shown to have antibacterial properties. This product also reacts with benzoic acid in a neutralization reaction, which produces carbon monoxide gas as a byproduct. Methyl 3-chlorosalicylate can be substituted for other chloroformates in many organic synthesis reactions, or it can be used as a surrogate for chlorine gas in some laboratory experiments. Methyl 3-chlorosalicylate has been shown to react with fluorescein under acidic conditions and form an orange compound called fluorescamine.Formula:C8H7O3ClPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:186.59 g/molRef: 3D-FM29099
