    1,2,3-Phenenyl triacetate is a reaction product of 3-hydroxyanthranilic acid and acetyl chloride. It is used as an intermediate for the production of ethyl esters. 1,2,3-Phenenyl triacetate can be used in the manufacture of polymers and pharmaceuticals. 1,2,3-Phenenyl triacetate has been shown to have a viscosity stabilizing effect at low concentrations. The photolytic stability of 1,2,3-phenenyl triacetate is dependent on the concentration of hydroxy groups in the molecule. Hydrolysis by borohydride reduction leads to the formation of 3-phenoxybenzoic acid. This product has been shown to have carcinogenic activity in animal tissues.
