CAS:Tetramethylhydroquinone (THQ) is a quinone that can exist in two oxidation states, +2 and +4. The redox potential of THQ is about -0.8 V, which means it can be reduced by sodium citrate or oxidized by proton. In the process of reducing or oxidizing, the oxidation state of THQ will change from +2 to +4 or vice versa. It has been shown that this compound inhibits several enzyme activities such as acetylcholinesterase and trypsin treatment. THQ also has an inhibitory effect on mitochondrial membrane potential and transfer reactions in mitochondria. It also reacts with fatty acid to form a metal chelate complex, which can reduce hydroxyl groups in fatty acids to form alcohols.Formula:C10H14O2Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:166.22 g/molTetramethylhydroquinone
