3-{[2-(2-Methoxyethoxy)ethoxy]methyl}-3-methyloxetane is an antibacterial agent that acts by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. It has been shown to have a ring-opening effect on beta-(1,4)-linked amine residues in the bacterial cell wall, which prevents crosslinking and leads to cell death. 3-{[2-(2-Methoxyethoxy)ethoxy]methyl}-3-methyloxetane has been shown to be active against Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa in vitro.
