2-Amino-3,5-dichlorobenzaldehyde is a class I amino acid neurotransmitter. It is an agonist of glycine receptors and has been shown to have affinity for the rat cerebral cortex. This drug has been injected into the Xenopus oocyte and was found to produce an inward current at -60 mV. The effect of 2-amino-3,5-dichlorobenzaldehyde on voltage-gated K+ channels was also investigated by using rat cerebral cortical membranes. In this study, it was found that 2-amino-3,5-dichlorobenzaldehyde blocks potassium channels without affecting sodium channels or calcium channels.
