CAS:Heptadecanenitrile is a colorless liquid that is used as an industrial solvent, in the production of polycarboxylic acid and n-oxide, and as a reagent for nitration. It has been shown to be an acidic compound with a pKa of -1. Heptadecanenitrile can react with hydrochloric acid to form an aliphatic hydrocarbon (e.g., hexadecane) and hydrogen chloride. The health effects of heptadecanenitrile are not well documented, but it has been shown to be toxic if inhaled or ingested in large amounts. Heptadecanenitrile is also an electrolyte and can function as a fatty acid that dissolves in organic solvents such as ethers, chloroform, ketones, esters, glycerol, alcohols and acetone. The average particle size of heptadecanenitrile ranges from 1-10 micFormula:C17H33NPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:251.45 g/mol
