  • Isobutyl n-Octanoate

    CAS:
Isobutyl n-octanoate is a colorless liquid with a strong odor. This ester is used in the manufacture of perfumes and flavorings. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of microorganisms by inhibiting their ability to produce fatty acids. The inhibition occurs by replacing the substrate (i.e., ethyl decanoate) that would be converted into fatty acid, thereby preventing the production of fatty acids from taking place. Isobutyl n-octanoate also inhibits the activity of enzymes such as hydrochloric acid, aliphatic hydrocarbon, surface methodology, structural formula, reaction mechanism and hydrogen fluoride.br>br> The reaction mechanism for this compound can be summarized as follows: Butyric acid + 2 ethyl esters => 2 Ethyl Decanoate + Butyric Acid
