CAS:6-Chloroacetyl-2-benzoxazolinone is a compound that has been shown to have allelopathic properties. It is used as a herbicide and an insecticide, and it can be used in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. This active compound inhibits the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, which prevents the breakdown of acetylcholine. 6-Chloroacetyl-2-benzoxazolinone is transported by chloride ions, which are also necessary for its activity. The concentration of this compound can be dose-dependent based on the biomolecular concentration in tissues. 6-Chloroacetyl-2-benzoxazolinone has been shown to inhibit cholinesterase in both apical and basolateral membranes, but it does not penetrate the cell membrane well and is therefore not very effective at inhibiting cholinesterase inside cells.
