This synthesis is required for the production of prostaglandins and leukotrienes, which are involved in the inflammatory process. The compound has been shown to have immunomodulatory effects in chronic bronchitis, with an inhibitory effect on neutrophil chemotaxis, macrophage activity, and cytokine production.
