Furan-3-boronic acid

Furan-3-ylboronic acid is a boronate ester that has been shown to inhibit the replication of the HIV-1 and HIV-2 replicons. Furan-3-ylboronic acid also inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines like IL-8, TNFα, IL-6 and IL-10 as well as other proinflammatory mediators. Furan-3-ylboronic acid has also been shown to inhibit cancer cells by blocking the expression of various genes involved in cell cycle regulation, DNA repair, and apoptosis. Additionally, furan-3-ylboronic acid binds to receptors on human neutrophils, which leads to inhibition of serine protease activity.
