The chemical ionization mass spectrum of 2-hydroxypyrimidine shows that it has a protonated molecular ion at m/z = 155, which corresponds to the loss of water. The photoelectron spectrum indicates that this molecule contains a tetranuclear cation with two oxygen atoms and two nitrogen atoms. The frequency shift in the IR spectrum corresponds to an n-oxide form of this molecule.
