CAS:Glycerine is a trihydric alcohol that is used as a solvent in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and soaps. It also acts as an emollient and humectant. Glycerin is produced by hydrolysis of fats or oils with water and the catalytic use of strong base. The reaction mechanism for glycerin is: CH3-CO-OH + H2O → CH2-OH-CO-H + H+ The carbonyl oxygens are protonated to form carboxylates, which in turn react with water to form hydrocarbons. These hydrocarbons form esters with the glycerol molecule. The water vapor can be removed by distillation and the resulting product is glycerine.Formula:C3H8O3Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:Colorless Clear LiquidMolecular weight:92.09 g/molGlycerol
CAS:Glycerol, sweet & non-toxic, is used in food and medicine, forms fat backbones, and when excess, causes hyperglycerolemia.Formula:C3H8O3Purity:98.45% - 99.83%Color and Shape:Clear Water-White Liquid ViscousMolecular weight:92.09Glycerol, ACS, 99.5+%
CAS:Glycerol is widely used in cosmetics, especially for production of soaps and lotions, solvents and emulsifiers. It may also be found in inks, adhesives and pharmaceuticals. It plays an important role in the manufacture of plastics and resins. Glycerol bonded with silica gel plays an important role for effective removal of traces of Co(II) from aqueous solutions. Also useful for optical clearing of gastric tissue. This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. CAS:Controlled ProductApplications Glycerol is used both in sample preparation and gel formation for polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Glycerol (5-10%) increases the density of a sample so that the sample will layer at the bottom of a gel’s sample well. Glycerol is also used to aid in casting gradient gels and as a protein stabilizer and storage buffer component.
