CAS:2-Methoxy-9-phenyl-1H-phenalen-1-one is an inhibitor of the biosynthesis of phenylpropanoids and inhibitors of leishmanial growth. 2-Methoxy-9-phenyl-1H-phenalen-1-one inhibits the conversion of 4-(4′methoxyphenyl)butanal to cinnamic acid and can be used as a potential herbicide. This compound has shown antibiotic activity against Leishmania spp., including L. major, L. mexicana, and L. braziliensis, with IC50 values in the range of 0.5-5 µg/mL.
