CAS 563-70-2: Bromonitromethane

Bromonitromethane is a chemical compound that has been used for wastewater treatment and as an antimicrobial agent. It is also used as a reagent in the preparation of nitrites and nitrates, which are important in the regulation of blood pressure. Bromonitromethane can be synthesized by reacting nitric acid with bromine or by reacting sodium hydroxide with nitrous acid. This chemical has been shown to have carcinogenic potential, although this is not confirmed. Bromonitromethane is also known to have anti-inflammatory properties and may be helpful in treating bowel diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease. The process of obtaining bromonitromethane can be optimized through the use of thiolates or amides to increase yield.

Applications Bromonitromethane is used in the preparaton of [2,3-d]pyrimidines as inhibitors of Lck which can be used in the treatment of diseases where T-cell proliferation is unwanted. It is also used in the synthesis of isoxazoline N-oxides.
