It has been shown to inhibit the formation of tryptophan residues, which are key in the activation of carcinogens. This compound also acts as a corrosion inhibitor and can be used as an additive in dimethylformamide. The uv method has been used to determine the structure of 8-hydroxyquinoline-7-carbaldehyde.
