1,8-Dimethylnaphthalene
CAS:1,8-Dimethylnaphthalene is an aromatic hydrocarbon that belongs to the naphthalenes. It is a colorless liquid with a characteristic odor and boiling point of 135°C. 1,8-Dimethylnaphthalene has been shown to react with iron(II) in the presence of oxygen and water to produce Fe(III) oxide. This reaction proceeds via conformational changes in the molecule that allow it to act as a chelate ring. 1,8-Dimethylnaphthalene is soluble in polar solvents such as ethanol and ether. It also reacts with fatty acids to form dimethylnaphthalenes, which are used in the production of dyes and perfumes.Formula:C12H12Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:156.22 g/mol
