N-[4-Chloro-3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-2-ethoxy-6-pentadecylbenzamide is a peptide binding inhibitor that has been shown to inhibit the neurotrophic effects of lysine residues in the nerve growth factor (NGF) and brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). The mechanism by which this drug inhibits NGF and BDNF may be due to its ability to bind to these peptides and prevent their activation. N-[4-Chloro-3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-2-ethoxy-6-pentadecylbenzamide has also been shown to inhibit protease activity, which may contribute to its therapeutic effect.
