It is also an acetamide derivative that is derived from the homologous compound, 3-fluoroaniline. The compound has been shown to have high potency and hydrophobic interaction with the TRPV1 receptor. This interaction may be due to its substituent on the ethyl group, which allows for increased hydrophobic interactions with the receptor. Ethyl 2-(3-fluorophenyl)acetate has also been shown to inhibit capsaicin-induced pain in mice.
