It is a liquid at room temperature and has a high affinity for water. 3,5-Dichlorophenol has the ability to trap metal ions such as potassium dichromate and enhance the transport of these ions in wastewater treatment. This chemical can also be used to remove chlorine from bleach solutions and reduce the concentration of hydrogen sulfide in wastewaters.
