  • 2-Furfurylthio-3-methylpyrazine

    2-Furfurylthio-3-methylpyrazine is a corrosion inhibitor that can be used to prevent the corrosion of metals in an acidic environment. It has been shown to be effective at preventing the corrosion of iron, copper, and aluminum when exposed to an acidic environment. 2-Furfurylthio-3-methylpyrazine also has potentiodynamic polarization properties and has been found to be adsorbed on the surface of iron oxide particles. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) studies have shown that it is possible for 2-furfurylthio-3-methylpyrazine to form a monolayer on the surface of an electrochemical cell. This compound has been shown to inhibit nitrogen atoms from adsorbing onto a metal surface in simulations, which may lead to improved corrosion protection.
