Potassium 3-buten-1-yl(trifluoro)borate(1-) is the potassium salt of trifluoromethyloxirane. This intermediate can be used in organic synthesis, such as epoxidation and sulfonyl chloride reactions. It is resistant to oxidizing agents and can be used as a synthetic intermediate for organotrifluoroborates. Potassium 3-buten-1-yl(trifluoro)borate(1-) is also crystalline, with a melting point of 178°C. This reagent is analogous to other borates, such as potassium tetrafluoroborate and potassium hexafluorophosphate.
