CAS:8-Methylquinoline is a quinoline derivative that has been shown to be tumorigenic in CD-1 mice. It also inhibits the growth of malonic acid-induced mammary tumors in these animals. 8-Methylquinoline is stable in the presence of oxygen and can be used as a chelate ligand with metal ions such as aluminum and iron. This compound is often used in Friedel-Crafts reactions, which are chemical reactions where an alkyl group is substituted onto a benzene ring by a halide. 8-Methylquinoline forms methyl ketones when reacted with an inorganic acid, such as hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid. These ketones are chelating agents that can bind metals such as copper, zinc, and cobalt.Formula:C10H9NPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:143.19 g/mol
