  • 2-(4-Bromophenyl)-1H-indole

    CAS:
2-(4-Bromophenyl)-1H-indole is a ligand, which binds to the benzodiazepine receptor in the central nervous system. 2-(4-Bromophenyl)-1H-indole is synthesised and tested for its affinity for this receptor. The uptake of 2-(4-bromophenyl)-1H-indole into rat brain tissue is studied using autoradiography. It is found that 2-(4-bromophenyl)-1H-indole has high affinity for the benzodiazepine binding site on rat brain membranes and modulates the activity of GABA receptors, which causes sedation. The effects of halogens on 2-(4-bromophenyl)-1H-indole are investigated by measuring their effect on its uptake into rat brain tissue. Flumazenil, an antagonist of benzodiazepine receptors, blocks the effects of 2-(4-bromophenyl)-1H
