CAS 61413-67-0: Dodecanoic acid, chloromethyl ester

Chloromethyl dodecanoate is a synthetic derivative of dopamine and serotonin that is structurally related to the benzoates. It has been shown to bind with high affinity to glycogen synthase kinase-3 (GSK-3) and inhibit its activity. Chloromethyl dodecanoate inhibits membrane transport by binding to the carboxyalkyl groups of phospholipids, which prevents ion movement across the membrane. Chloromethyl dodecanoate also inhibits protein synthesis by blocking inorganic phosphate release from ATP, which leads to an accumulation of ADP and AMP and inhibition of protein synthesis.

Applications Chloromethyl Laurate is used as a reagent in the synthesis of levofloxacin derivatives as potential antitumor agents.
