1-Decanesulfonyl chloride is a potent antibacterial agent that belongs to the class of cyclodepsipeptide compounds. It has been shown to have antiviral and anti-inflammatory effects in mice. This drug also inhibits angiogenesis by inhibiting the production of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). 1-Decanesulfonyl chloride binds to the ns5b polymerase, which is an enzyme involved in replicating hepatitis C virus, and inhibits its activity. This drug has also been shown to be an effective treatment for dyslipidemia and inflammatory diseases such as arthritis and psoriasis, possibly due to its ability to inhibit estrogen synthesis by binding with the estrogen receptor.
