This chemical has been shown to be an effective proton scavenger in an optimum concentration. Benzimidazole compounds are also synthesized from 3,4-diaminobenzoic acid and have been shown to be effective against autoimmune diseases. 3,4-Diaminobenzoic acid can be used for the production of diazonium salts, which are used in the synthesis of anti-inflammatory drugs and other pharmaceuticals.
