CAS:4-Nitrobenzyl alcohol is an organic compound that contains a nitro group. It is soluble in water, ethanol, and ether. 4-Nitrobenzyl alcohol reacts with ethylene diamine to produce a new compound called monoclonal antibodies. This reaction is catalyzed by malonic acid and sodium carbonate. Monoclonal antibodies are used in the treatment of diseases such as cancer, AIDS, and autoimmune disorders. 4-Nitrobenzyl alcohol also reacts with cholesterol esterase to produce the substrate molecule, which can be used for kinetic studies on cholesterol esterase enzyme activity. The hydroxyl group of this molecule can be oxidized by potassium permanganate to form nitronium ions (NO+), which are highly reactive and can react with other molecules in the environment. This reaction may cause an explosion if there is enough oxygen present.Formula:C7H7NO3Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:White PowderMolecular weight:153.14 g/mol4-Nitrobenzyl alcohol
