CAS:P-Tolylacetic acid is a biologically active compound that has been isolated from fruit extract. It is also found in dry weight of mammalian cells. PTA has been shown to have anticancer activity and inhibit the growth of cancer cells. The mechanism of action of PTA is not yet clear, but it may be due to its ability to inhibit the formation of water molecule or intramolecular hydrogen bridges. P-tolylacetic acid inhibits cancer cell proliferation by inhibiting an enzyme called malic acid reductase, which converts malic acid into NADPH. This inhibition causes a decrease in ATP and an increase in AMP levels, leading to cell death through apoptosis.Formula:C9H10O2Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:150.17 g/mol4-Methylphenylacetic acid
